..........The oldest extant aerial photograph was taken on this day in 1860 in the United States from a hot air balloon floating over Boston, Massachusetts. The technique has evolved into photographing the Earth's surface or features of its atmosphere or hydrosphere with cameras mounted on aircraft, rockets, or Earth-orbiting satellites and other spacecraft.......It's only taken 148 years to get from there to Google Earth!
